Privacy Policy
Last updated 8 September 2026
Gifted helps families run group gifting for kids' birthday parties. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Gifted is operated by Alistair Lamond, a sole trader trading as Gifted (ABN 13 612 003 953)(“Gifted”, “we”, “us”). If anything here is unclear, contact us at hello@gifted.party.
What we collect
The personal information we collect depends on whether you're a host or a guest.
If you host a party, we collect your mobile number and first name when you sign in, and the party details you enter (including the birthday child's first name and age). To receive a payout you also provide your legal name, date of birth, residential address, and bank account details — these go directly to our payments provider, Stripe, and are not stored on Gifted's servers(see “How we protect it”).
If you're a guest, we collect your name, your child's first name, your mobile number, and any note or message you choose to add when you RSVP or contribute.
Photos and videos. Hosts may upload a party photo, and hosts can record a thank-you photo or video after the party. These may include images of children.
Payment information. Card and bank details are collected and processed by Stripe. Gifted receives only a reference to the transaction and the amount — never your full card or bank account number.
Children's birthdays.During sign-up you can add your children's birthdays — the day and month only, never a birth year — so we can remind you to plan their next party. You can remove these at any time.
Messages you send us. If you reply to one of our texts, we keep a record of your message and the mobile number it came from, so we can see and respond to what you and your guests ask.
Why we collect it and how we use it
- To run the gifting flow — send invites, take RSVPs, collect contributions, and deliver thank-yous.
- To pay hosts, and to meet the identity checks our payments provider requires by law.
- To send transactional SMS (invites, receipts, payout-ready alerts, thank-yous).
- To keep the service secure, prevent misuse, and support you when you ask for help.
- To understand which of our posts and ads bring people to Gifted, so we don't waste money on the ones that don't.
We don't sell your personal information.
Advertising and how we measure it
When you arrive from a link we've posted or paid for, that link often carries a tag identifying the campaign, and sometimes a click identifier issued by the advertising platform. We record those in our own systems so we can tell which campaigns actually bring hosts to Gifted. We keep this for 90 days in your browser, and on your account if you go on to sign up.
Sharing any of it with an advertising platform is a separate thing, and we only do it if you agree. If you accept when we ask, we load Meta's (Facebook and Instagram) measurement tag and tell Meta when a sign-up or a first party came from one of their ads. What we send is limited: the click identifier from their own ad, the identifier their tag set in your browser, your IP address and browser type, and a scrambled version of your Gifted account ID that means nothing outside our database. We never send your mobile number, your name, your children's details, or anything about your party or contributions to an advertising platform.
If you decline, none of it is shared and Meta's tag is never loaded. You can change your mind — clearing your browser's cookies for this site brings the question back. Declining doesn't limit anything you can do on Gifted.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed to run Gifted:
- The party host sees the RSVP, contribution, and note details a guest submits for their party.
- Stripe processes payments and host identity verification.
- Our SMS provider delivers the text messages described above.
- Our hosting and database provider stores the service's data.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — only if you agree to advertising measurement, and only the limited details described above.
- Others where the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our providers store or process personal information outside Australia — in particular Stripe, which processes payments and identity data in the United States and other countries. If you agree to advertising measurement, Meta also receives the limited details described above in the United States. By using Gifted, you consent to this disclosure. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers protect your information consistently with the APPs.
Children's information
Gifted is designed for parents and adult guests, not for children. We only collect a child's first name and age (and any photo a host chooses to upload) so a party reads naturally. If you believe a child's information has been provided without a parent's consent, contact us and we'll remove it.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as it's needed. Around 90 days after a party has passed, we automatically de-identify it: guest contact details and free-text notes are scrubbed and all party and thank-you photos and videos are deleted. Records we're required to keep for financial and tax purposes (such as contribution amounts and payment references) are retained without the personal details attached.
Replies you text us are de-identified on the same basis once they are no longer tied to an active party. Any children's birthdays you saved for reminders are kept until you remove them or close your account.
How we protect it
- Bank and identity details for payouts are handled by Stripe and are not stored on Gifted's servers.
- Photos and videos are kept in private storage and served only through short-lived, signed links — never a public URL.
- Data is encrypted in transit, and access to personal information is restricted to what each part of the service needs.
Accessing, correcting, and deleting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Hosts can edit their own party and payout details in the app. For anything else — including a request to delete your account — email hello@gifted.party and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal details and your saved children's birthdays, and we de-identify your past parties so guests can no longer be identified. Records we're required to keep for financial and tax purposes are retained without the personal details attached. If you have an active party or a payout in progress, we'll ask you to wrap that up first.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, contact us at hello@gifted.party and we'll work to resolve it. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
